History of Constitutions

Nepal's eight constitutions reflect its political transformation from a Hindu kingdom to a federal democratic secular republic. From the first written constitution in 1947 through the Panchayat era (1962–1990), multi-party democracy (1990–2007), and the current federal system, each constitution marked major shifts in governance.
